Centra is pleased to welcome back Chris Thomson, MD, MS, MBA, FACEP, to central Virginia as our new Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative and Transformation Officer. Dr. Thomson returns to Centra with a rich tapestry of experiences from his roles across the United States, bringing innovative perspectives on healthcare management and strategic development.

Dr. Thomson's career began in central Virginia, where he served at Lynchburg Emergency Physicians and Centra for 22 years which culminated in his role as Centra's Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. His subsequent roles included key leadership positions at Centura Health in Colorado and MaineHealth, overseeing clinical and operational transformations that have reshaped patient care.
Dr. Thomson is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and the Medical College of Virginia with further qualifications from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
"Returning to Centra and central Virginia feels like coming home. It's a unique opportunity to leverage my experiences from around the country to further strengthen the bonds and health outcomes of the community that my family and I hold dear," noted Dr. Thomson.
Chris Thomson and his wife, Britney, along with their three daughters are deeply embedded in the Lynchburg community and look forward to once again being part of the vibrant life of central Virginia.
