Almost three years after admitting their first COVID-19 patient, Centra is updating its mask policy to “masking optional”, as of today, March 17, 2023, with some limited exceptions. Centra’s Infection Prevention team has been closely monitoring community spread and hospitalizations and are confident this is a safe step for our community and our Caregivers.
Procedural masks will continue to be provided at all Centra locations. Patients, visitors or Caregivers who would like to continue wearing a mask are free to do so. All visitors will continue to be required to wear a procedural mask for interactions with all COVID-19, influenza, RSV and other respiratory isolated patients.
While the pandemic is ending, COVID-19 will remain with us. We will continue to monitor the numbers in our communities and assess our hospitalizations in the weeks and months to come. We encourage the public to continue to practice good hand hygiene, masking when not feeling well and staying up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters.
