U.S. News & World Report has awarded Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital with the “High Performing” Designation for Maternity Care.
Earlier this year, U.S. News & World Report invited hospitals to self-report their maternity data from the 2020 calendar year to identify hospitals that provide high-quality maternity care and help expectant families to make informed choices about where to seek care for uncomplicated pregnancies. Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital successfully submitted its survey data in the spring.
As defined by U.S. News & World Report, “High Performing” hospitals have fewer early deliveries, fewer C-sections, and fewer newborn complications in addition to higher rates of breast milk feeding. Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital was one of only 12 hospitals in Virginia to be evaluated as “High Performing,” which is the highest award a hospital can earn in Maternity Care.
“At Centra, our dedicated maternity care professionals work to ensure that expectant families receive compassionate, evidence-based care at every stage of their pregnancy, says Tab Culbertson, Vice President of System Operations and Hospital Administrator for Centra Lynchburg General Hospital and Virginia Baptist Hospital. Our team makes a difference in our community daily because of their commitment to clinical excellence and their attentiveness to patients' needs. The designation of ‘High Performing’ by U.S. News & World Report is only further proof of this fact.”
