Centra continues to build and foster relationships with vital community organizations throughout Central Virginia. One of these partnerships is with Amherst County Habitat for Humanity (HFH) which has been serving the region for 30 years. Recently, Centra elected to donate space to the Amherst County HFH so that the organization could have an established corporate office.
Amherst County HFH began using the location in January of 2021. Centra and Amherst County HFH will enter into an official lease agreement effective July 1, 2022, that allows the Amherst County HFH to continue using the space for the next several years.
“This agreement solidifies the partnership that we’ve had with Amherst County Habitat for Humanity for many years now,” said Joe Archambeault, Centra Vice President of Facilities. “We look forward to continuing to support Amherst County Habitat for Humanity as they seek to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope in the years to come.”
On Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 2 p.m., Amherst County HFH will be celebrating this positive addition to this partnership with an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony. This event will be held at 130 Ambriar Court, Amherst, VA 24521 where the office is located.
The additional square footage is being used as an Indoor yard sale which is open on Thursdays and Fridays. This fundraiser has already been quite successful not only in producing monies for an additional home but in providing for various organizations throughout the county. Since January 2021, Amherst Habitat has partnered with Amherst County Social Services, Miriam’s House, WarmStreets, Valor Farm Veteran Housing & other local needs.
“It has been amazing to serve our County in so many various ways! Centra has afforded us the ability to spread our wings, reaching heights we never dreamed of,” stated Debbie Habel, Executive Director of Amherst County Habitat for Humanity. “We can now do so much more and we invite you to come join our celebration!”
