Our Approach

Centra is committed to improving the health and quality of life for the communities we serve with dignity, compassion and respect. In order to serve those who may not have health insurance or other means to pay for their care, a comprehensive program of financial assistance is in place.

Reflecting our promise of advanced medicine and extraordinary care, this program provides generous financial assistance for those who meet certain eligibility requirements.

Financial Assistance Policies and Programs

Government Programs

Centra participates in several governmental assistance programs such as Virginia Medicaid, Victims of Crime and Vocational Rehabilitation. To identify eligibility for these programs, please contact a customer service representative at (434) 200-3777, option 6.

Financial Assistance Program

Patients who need help in meeting their financial obligations for the healthcare services may apply for financial assistance. Those who meet the criteria and are financially unable to establish the minimum payment required are strongly encouraged to contact customer service.

Policies & Applications

Eligibility for financial assistance or charity care that is provided without expectation of payment is for families who are uninsured and whose income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level set forth by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Families with income between 200% and 400% qualify for sliding scale discounts that range from 35% to 95%.
