Emergency Department

Our approach to care

We understand that a visit to the Emergency Department is not something you or a family member wants to experience. As the region's community healthcare provider, Centra EDs will always be here when you or loved one need us most.

We do not see patients in the order of arrival. A triage process is used to prioritize care and identify patients requiring immediate medical attention according to the nature and severity of their injury or illness. Our goal is for all patients to receive the same excellent care. Your patience helps to save lives.

After check-in, you will be seen by a Registered Nurse, our Triage Nurse to begin your assessment. This quick check may include some tests, potentially an electrocardiogram, blood draw, urine collection or x-rays. You may be asked to return to the lobby to wait for these results or be taken to a treatment space. Our goal is to begin care as soon as possible.
