About Me
Dr. Kotapati completed his residency at New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center and later worked as an Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University at Midland, teaching psychiatry resident doctors and seeing patients. He is double board certified in Psychiatry and Addiction medicine, Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT) specialist, currently working as a Medical Director psychiatric inpatient unit at Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital Lynchburg, VA and seeing outpatients at Piedmont Psychiatric Center. He is an active member of the strategy committee of the Centra health system.
He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Medical Case Reports; overseeing the peer-review process, recommending articles for press releases, ambassador for the journal and providing feedback and suggesting improvements for the journal. He is also a peer reviewer for the editorial manager.
Dr. Kotapati is a secretary of the Virginia Society Addiction Medicine Board (VASAM) and advances the evidence-based practice of treatment and recovery for individuals affected by addiction. He also serves as one of the directors of the Lynchburg Academy of Medicine and he actively teaches medical students from Liberty University.
He has been married to internist/obesity medicine specialist Prasanna for 11 years, living with their 2 sons.
