Rakesh Jain, MD

Dr. Jain is board certified in Internal Medicine-Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology. After earning his medical degree from University at Buffalo, he received additional training through a residency in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University Hospital and a fellowship in Cardiology at Veterans Administration Medical Center/Georgetown University Hospital, and another fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at VCU Medical College. He loves caring for the Farmville community because this community played a big role in the success of his career after he joined a group in Richmond in 1990 upon completing his training. 

For 10-15 years, Dr. Purohit in Farmville referred many patients to him for cardiac care, giving him "the privilege of taking care of lot of patients from this area and establish relationships with the medical community." When an opportunity came with Centra to provide the same care locally with opening of new cath lab in 2016, he says "it was my way of giving back to an underserved community so close to home." When he is not providing care at the Heart and Vascular Institute, he likes to spend his time being outdoors, playing tennis, biking, weekends at the beach and spending time with my wife, three adult kids two of whom are married, two grandkids and another one on the way.
